Each film has its own structure, which is an organized whole, a fabric in which everything fits together; in short, a system. But this system is valid only for one film.
The system has no physical existence; it is nothing more than a logic, a principle of coherence. It is the intelligibility of the text, that which must be presupposed if the text is to be comprehensible.
